Site
A good location for a raised bed is sunny to semi-shady, with a levelled surface. The WormUp Raised Bed is open at the bottom, so a "grown" substrate such as turf/soil is ideal. The turf and any plants with roots are removed for this purpose. However, the raised bed can generally be placed on any surface that is not sensitive to dirt, such as gravel/concrete slabs, etc.
Start
Assembling the individual elements is very quick and you don't need any additional tools. It's best to watch our video on assembly or the instructions.
To prevent snail eggs from moving into your raised bed, we recommend filling the raised bed with purchased soil (substrate).
Filling with supplied ecohumus substrate
We offer high-quality substrate for the WormUp raised bed. No other material is needed.
- First fill the raised bed with the roof and trough soil.
- Then add the snack garden soil and water this substrate too.
Filling with garden materials
First fill the raised bed with coarse wood and finer branches and plant stems. Stamp the material together (10-20cm) and add the previously removed turf/grass clippings or a thin layer of grass clippings or leaves (10-20cm) and add a 30-40cm layer of garden soil on top. It is best to mix the mature compost into the top 15-20 cm and start planting!
